I am back from Kansas City, and the Brookside Art Annual last weekend. It was a good show, with all kinds of crazy midwestern weather- winds, rain, cold-damp, sun- all over the board. I showed my new textile work for the first time, and it was a resounding success. I sold one of the Fiber collage pieces and got great response on the big crochet pieces. This was an unexpected and welcome result of doing the show– showing new work and getting responses from the public. Though I have always worked in all kinds of fiber mediums, this was the first time I exhibited my art fibers at a show. It spurred me on in an enthusiastic way to make MORE!
All of my stitched paintings and crochet pieces have been sent ahead to a shipper/facilitator who will have them in my booth at ACC/Baltimore in one week. I’m very excited. I will bring a few extra pieces, which I am working on now, with me on the plane.
Attached is the piece I sold (16 x 20″), as well as a new collage I finished last night, “Spring” also 16 x 20. Very different color palettes. Loving the process.
“Spring” free motion stitching on collaged hand dyed and printed fabrics, 16 x 20″ Framed in floater frame.
