This necklace, just completed, was a kind of exercise in subtlety and restraint. Commissioned by a very lovely gallery-owner from New York City, it needed to be somewhat neutral, but interesting and unexpected. Shades of gray/lavender, charcoal, khaki, silver, plum dart around each bead in the composition, interspersed with simple Fluorite rounds. I don’t usually extend my beaded beads all the way around to the back of my necklaces, choosing to showcase them in the visible areas in front. Yet, having done this for this customer, I see the beauty in repeating the pattern and varying the color just ever-so-slightly. A perfect necklace with gray or black cashmere, or a linen shirt.
